Government Funding

Government agencies, particularly the Small Business Administration (SBA), will not lend you money directly.  However, they will work with local financial institutions to guarantee that your business will be capable of repaying loans made to it.  In the event that your business will not, the government will provide the lender with a percentage of funds needed to repay your loans.

Your bank will work with the SBA to submit the proper paperwork and secure the guarantee.  In order to do that, they will need you to provide the necessary financial information, your business plan, and the information for the forms.  The type of SBA guarantee you are applying for will dictate the paperwork that needs to be completed.  The following synopses will briefly describe some of the SBA programs available.
